Description

The LPU-40A is very similar to the LPU-40 but
incorporates an auto-inflator as a back-up to the
manual pull design. It is designed to inflate the
LPU in approximately six seconds once immersed
in water. It attaches to vests and harnesses using
the MOLLE system, and the outer casing is made
of durable fire retardant fabrics. Manual inflation
consists of two separate handles (left & right). Each
beaded handle is pulled separately to inflate both
bladder chambers for a minimum of 65 lbs. of
buoyancy. The bladder has a two chamber design
to allow buoyancy in the event that there is damage
to either side of the bladder. Either chamber can
be orally inflated in the event of an emergency. The
unique bladder design incorporates arm straps and
a cinch strap, which improve the flotation position of
the user.
